Titanium Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 5 and Grade 9 Forged Fittings Manufacturer and Supplier

ARK Stainless Inc. manufactures and supplies Titanium Forged Fittings for corrosive and high-performance piping systems used across chemical processing, marine service, offshore projects, desalination, power generation and specialised industrial applications. Our range includes Titanium socket weld fittings and Titanium threaded forged fittings in commonly required forms such as elbows, tees, couplings, unions, caps, plugs, bushings and pipe nipples, produced in line with ASTM B381, ASME SB381 and ASME B16.11 requirements.

Titanium is selected for forged fittings where the piping system needs a combination of high corrosion resistance, low weight, dependable strength and long service life. In industries handling seawater, chlorides, wet chlorine, oxidising chemicals, salt solutions or demanding process media, titanium forged fittings are often preferred over many conventional materials because they offer better resistance to corrosion without adding unnecessary weight to the system. Depending on the application, the requirement may range from commercially pure Titanium Grade 1 and Grade 2 forged fittings to stronger alloyed grades such as Titanium Grade 5 forged fittings and Titanium Grade 9 forged fittings.

Titanium Grade 1 Forged Fittings

Titanium Grade 1 Forged Fittings are manufactured from commercially pure titanium and are generally selected where maximum corrosion resistance, high ductility and good formability are more important than high strength. Grade 1 is one of the softer titanium grades, which makes it suitable for applications involving aggressive corrosive media, marine environments, chemical handling systems and process lines where fabrication and corrosion performance matter more than load-bearing strength.

Titanium Grade 1 forged fittings are commonly used in chemical processing equipment, heat exchangers, condensers, desalination units, pulp and paper plants, chlorate service and seawater systems. In socket weld and threaded fitting applications, Grade 1 is often preferred where the line is exposed to corrosion-prone service but does not require the higher strength levels of Grade 5 or Grade 9. If the application demands good weldability along with reliable resistance to pitting, crevice attack and general corrosion in oxidising environments, Titanium Grade 1 socket weld fittings can be a practical choice.

Titanium Grade 2 Forged Fittings

Titanium Grade 2 Forged Fittings are among the most widely used titanium forged fittings because they offer a practical balance of corrosion resistance, strength, weldability and fabricability. Grade 2 is stronger than Grade 1 while still retaining the corrosion resistance associated with commercially pure titanium, which makes it suitable for a wide range of industrial piping systems.

These fittings are commonly supplied for marine applications, offshore systems, chemical process piping, heat exchangers, pressure lines, power plants, paper and pulp units, refinery service and desalination projects. Titanium Grade 2 threaded fittings and Titanium Grade 2 socket weld fittings are often chosen for lines carrying seawater, brine, chlorides, mildly acidic process media and other corrosive fluids where low maintenance and long service life are important. For many buyers, Grade 2 becomes the default titanium grade when the requirement is for general-purpose titanium forged fittings for corrosive service.

Titanium Grade 5 Forged Fittings

Titanium Grade 5 Forged Fittings are used where the piping system needs higher mechanical strength, good fatigue resistance and reduced weight, along with the corrosion resistance associated with titanium alloys. Grade 5 is a titanium alloy rather than a commercially pure titanium grade, and it is often selected for high-performance engineering applications, aerospace-related systems, offshore equipment, marine components, high-pressure service and specialised process installations.

Titanium Grade 5 forged fittings are suitable for applications where the line may be exposed to demanding operating conditions and where stronger material is preferred over commercially pure grades. They are used in power generation, marine systems, oil and gas equipment, structural process assemblies, hydraulic lines and critical service piping where weight reduction and strength both matter. If the project calls for high-strength titanium forged elbows, tees, couplings or unions rather than purely corrosion-driven grade selection, Grade 5 is often considered.

Titanium Grade 9 Forged Fittings

Titanium Grade 9 Forged Fittings are chosen for applications that require a middle ground between the easier formability of commercially pure titanium grades and the higher strength of Grade 5. This grade is known for its good strength-to-weight ratio, weldability and corrosion resistance, which makes it useful in marine, offshore, chemical and industrial piping systems where a lighter but stronger titanium fitting is required.

Titanium Grade 9 forged fittings are used in heat exchangers, chemical handling systems, hydrocarbon processing, marine pipework, desalination, structural tubing assemblies and lightweight high-performance process lines. In applications where the piping system benefits from good cold formability, corrosion resistance and moderate strength, Grade 9 can be a very workable option.

Difference Between Titanium Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 5 and Grade 9 Forged Fittings

The choice between Titanium Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 5 and Grade 9 forged fittings usually depends on the service environment, mechanical loading, fabrication requirements and corrosion conditions of the piping system.

  • Titanium Grade 1 Forged Fittings are softer, highly ductile and offer excellent corrosion resistance. They are suitable for corrosive chemical service where high strength is not the primary requirement.
  • Titanium Grade 2 Forged Fittings offer a more balanced combination of strength and corrosion resistance, making them one of the most common grades for general industrial titanium piping applications.
  • Titanium Grade 5 Forged Fittings provide significantly higher strength and are used where the system needs a strong, lightweight fitting for demanding service conditions.
  • Titanium Grade 9 Forged Fittings sit between commercially pure titanium and higher-strength alloy grades, offering a practical mix of strength, weldability and corrosion resistance.

Socket Weld & Threaded Titanium Forged Fittings

Titanium forged fittings are mainly supplied in two end connection types: socket weld and threaded.

Socket weld titanium forged fittings are generally used where a stronger welded connection is preferred in a small-bore high-integrity piping system. These are commonly used in process plants, marine skids, offshore systems, corrosive chemical lines and other services where leakage control and joint strength are important.

Threaded titanium forged fittings are typically used where the piping arrangement requires easier installation, dismantling or maintenance, or where welding is not preferred for the service conditions. These are commonly used in utility systems, instrumentation lines, compact chemical transfer lines and service piping.

The right choice between Titanium socket weld fittings and Titanium threaded fittings depends on the design pressure, service fluid, operating temperature, maintenance requirements and project specification.

Inspection, Testing and Documentation

Titanium forged fittings are inspected during and after manufacturing to verify material quality, dimensional accuracy and compliance with the required specification. Depending on project requirements, the following inspection and testing scope can be offered:

  • PMI testing
  • Chemical analysis
  • Mechanical testing
  • Hardness testing
  • Dimensional inspection
  • Visual examination
  • Third-party inspection
  • Raw material traceability verification
  • Heat number identification
  • Documentation review as per project requirement
